Aslah was Encointer's second community currency, launched in Kigali, Rwanda, with its first key-signing gathering on 30 October 2022. It was deliberately started without a peg to the Rwandan franc and without a merchant list, aiming at informal trade among a largely unbanked population, with income issued to whoever attended the recurring gatherings.
